Today's Devotion
Day 18: Protection, Spiritual Warfare & Covering over Church & Families
21 Days of Prayer
Protection, Spiritual Warfare & Covering over Church & Families
(Psalm 91; Ephesians 6:10–18)
Welcome to Day 18 of 21 Days of Prayer
We acknowledge today that spiritual warfare is real. But we also declare that the covering of God is infinitely more real and powerful! Today, we declare His promises of protection over our church, our leaders, our families, and our children with boldness.
We begin by declaring God’s promise of refuge and defense over our lives:
Psalm 91:1–4 (ESV):
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler… He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler.”
God’s protection is not passive; it is active, powerful, and supernatural. This promise requires our engagement and preparation:
Ephesians 6:10–13 (ESV):
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil…”
Paul then specifies the items of our divine defense: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the readiness of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God).
Today, we pray for a spiritual perimeter of protection to be established around every person and ministry connected to Transformation Life Church (TLC).
We are praying specifically for protection from:
- Spiritual attack, division, and deception.
- Fear, distraction, and discouragement.
- Safety and covering over our campuses, our children’s ministries, our youth, and every household.
Where God is our refuge, fear has absolutely no authority.
Your 21-Day Prayer Focus: Day 18
Today, we take authority and claim God’s defense over our lives and our church. Pray specifically for these three things:
- For Protection Over Leadership and Unity: Pray for a powerful spiritual covering over all TLC leaders, staff, and volunteers. Ask God to guard them from the enemy’s schemes, preventing division, deception, and distraction from derailing the church’s vision.
- For Safety Over Families and Children (Psalm 91): Pray Psalm 91 over your immediate family and all children in TLC. Ask the Lord to be a refuge and fortress over every household, providing supernatural safety from fear, danger, and the specific snares of the enemy.
- For Wearing the Full Armor: Ask the Holy Spirit to bring specific conviction about any area where you have neglected to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6). Pray for the grace to pick up the Shield of Faith against doubt and wield the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) against spiritual opposition.
Your Action Step for Today
Action: Declare Psalm 91 over your home. Speak it aloud. Walk through each room if you want. Invite God’s covering to rest on everything He has entrusted to you.
Confession: Say this out loud:
“Lord, You are my refuge and my fortress. I put on the whole armor of God today. Cover my family and my church with Your powerful protection. Fear has no place here.”
Walk today with expectation: We are strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
