MAY 8 – Reading 128

“UNSHAKABLE REFUGE”
(Psalms 58:1-11; 61:1-8; 62:1-12)

“He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”  – Psalm 62:2

Imagine a lighthouse standing firmly on a rocky shore, with powerful waves crashing against it. No matter how intense the waves get, the lighthouse remains unmoved.  It stays firm because it is built on solid rock. In the same way, we can stand strong when life gets tough, knowing that God is our rock. Psalm 62:2 reminds us that God is our rock, our safety, and our protection. No matter what happens, we can trust that God will keep us safe and steady, just like the lighthouse on the shore. When everything around us feels uncertain, God is the one thing we can always depend on.

He alone is the one who can give us the security we long for. It’s easy to trust in things like money, people, or success, but these things can change and/or ultimately fail us. They don’t have the power to keep us safe in every storm. Only God is unchanging and dependable. When we trust in Him, we can stand firm, no matter how hard life gets. His love and protection are stronger than anything else, and He will never let us go.

Simple Truth:
God is our strong place to stand. When we trust Him, we will not be moved, no matter what happens.

Reflections:

  1. When life is hard, we can find peace in knowing that God is like a rock, strong and steady, and always with us. Even when the storms of life come, He is the one thing that remains constant.

  2. Just like the lighthouse stands firm in the storm, we are called to trust God and stand strong, knowing that He will protect us. Our hope is not in what we can do on our own, but in what God is always doing for us.

Application:

  • Think about areas in your life where you feel unsure or shaken. Are you trusting God in those areas? Give those worries to God and trust that He is your rock, even in the hardest times.

  • When you face a tough time, remind yourself that God will keep you steady. Trust in His promises and know that He won’t let you fall, even when everything else feels unstable.

Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my rock and safe place. When life feels hard, help me remember that You are always with me, keeping me steady and strong. Thank You for protecting me and never letting me go. No matter what happens, I know I can trust in Your love and care. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
