“WALKING IN WISDOM“
(Proverbs 14:1 – 16:33)
Theme: God’s wisdom helps us live in a way that shows His character and brings blessing.
Simple Truth:
Real wisdom isn’t just knowing the right thing—it’s living it out every day with respect and awe for God.
Reflection:
When I was a kid, I was always curious about how my toys worked. After a little while of playing, I would take them apart just to see what was inside. My room would end up full of little pieces! Maybe that was the beginning of my search for wisdom. What I do know is that my parents got wise too—and stopped buying me toys I would just take apart!
Proverbs 14–16 is full of helpful wisdom for everyday life—how we talk, how we work, how we treat people, and how we make choices. These chapters remind us that our lives are shaped by our choices. Our choices show either God’s ways or the world’s ways.
Here are two powerful verses:
- “There is a way that seems right, but in the end it leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12)
- “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will make your plans succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)
These verses challenge us to think about how we’re living. Are we doing what seems right to us, or are we trusting what God says is right?
Solomon shows us that living for God is very practical. It shows up in how we talk, plan, take corrections, and treat others.
Jesus shows us the best example of wisdom. The Bible says He is “the wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:24). When we follow Jesus, we are walking in true wisdom—because He lived the way Proverbs teaches us to live.
Reflection Questions:
- What parts of my life need more of God’s wisdom?
- Do the way I speak and act show respect for God or look more like the world?
- Am I trusting God with my plans and letting Him guide my steps?
Application:
- Read Proverbs often. Let God’s Word guide how you think and live.
- Pray for wisdom. James 1:5 says God will gladly give wisdom to those who ask.
- Follow Jesus’ example. Read about His life in the Gospels and see how He lived with wisdom.
Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the Bible that gives me wisdom for everyday life. Help me to respect You and live wisely in all I do. Teach me to speak and act in ways that show who You are. Thank You for Jesus, the perfect example of wisdom. Help me grow to be more like Him each day. In His name I pray, Amen.
