“YOUR CHOICES”
(Psalms 71:1-24; 84:1-12; 85:1-13; 87:1-7)

“I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” – Psalm 84:10

Have you ever stopped to think that your entire life consists of hundreds of thousands of daily choices? Some choices seem minor, and others appear to be significant. But, every moment of every day, you are making choices. The truth of the matter is that your decisions today – both big and small – determine the direction your life will take tomorrow.

In our text, Psalm 84:10, the writer indicates the choice he makes about being in God’s presence. One day in His presence is better than a thousand anywhere else. Better to be a doorkeeper for God, than choose to be anywhere outside of God’s presence.

What choices are you going to make today? What will you do? What will you say to your neighbors? Where will you go? What priorities do you place on your time, on your talents, and on your treasures?

Simple Truth:
Everything you do, everywhere you go, every word you say – you are making a choice! Choose wisely!

Reflections:
As you look back at the choices you made yesterday, last month, and last year, is there anything you wish you could do differently? You can’t change yesterday’s choices, but you can learn from them, and make wise choices today!

Application:

  • Make Spirit-led choices! If you choose according the the flesh, you will reap corruption! (Galatians 6:7-8)
  • Ask God when you choose! God will give you wisdom if you simply ask Him! (James 1:5)
  • Don’t make worldly choices! Rather, allow God to transform your mind so that you may discern His perfect will! (Romans 12:2)

Closing Prayer:
Father, as I go about today’s activities and actions, lead me by Your Spirit, so that each decision I make will be directed by you. May my choices today, and every day, be godly decisions that are pleasing to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
