“GOD NEVER FORGETS THE FAITHFUL”
(2 Kings 8:1–6; 2 Chronicles 21–22:6)
The king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, and had said, ‘Tell me about all the great things Elisha has done.’” — 2 Kings 8:4
Simple Truth:
God remembers and rewards those who stay faithful, even when others forget.
In 2 Kings 8, we read about the Shunammite woman—a kind and faithful woman who helped the prophet Elisha. Years earlier, God had blessed her with a son through Elisha’s prayers. Now, Elisha warns her about a famine, and she leaves her home for seven years. When she returns, her land has been taken.
At the same time, the king is asking Elisha’s servant to tell him stories of Elisha’s miracles. Gehazi just happens to be talking about the woman and how Elisha brought her son back to life. As Gehazi tells the story, she walks into the room! The king is amazed and gives her land back—plus all the money that would have come from it while she was gone.
In 2 Chronicles 21–22, we read about kings who were selfish, made bad choices, and led the people away from God. But even though these kings were unfaithful, God was still working quietly and kindly to help those who trusted Him.
This story points us to Jesus. He sees when we feel forgotten. He brings justice, hope, and blessings to those who trust in Him. He is our faithful and loving King.
Reflections:
- God sees your faithfulness. Even when others don’t notice, God does—and He never forgets.
- God’s timing is perfect. The woman showed up just as her story was being told. God is always working behind the scenes.
- God is better than any leader on earth. Even when people in power fail, God stays in control and helps His people.
Application:
If you’ve been doing the right thing but feel like no one sees or cares—don’t give up. Keep trusting God. Just like He helped the Shunammite woman, He will take care of you too. His timing is perfect, and He always keeps His promises.
Closing Prayer:
God, thank You for seeing me and caring for me. Help me to stay faithful, even when life is hard or when others forget me. Thank You for Jesus, who always loves me and brings hope. I trust You to work things out in the right time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
