“FAITHFUL IN THE SHADOWS”
(2 Kings 11–12; 2 Chronicles 22:10–24:27)
“But Jehosheba… took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away… She hid him… so he was not killed.” — 2 Kings 11:2
Simple Truth:
God often uses faithful people behind the scenes to protect His plans.
When Queen Athaliah tried to kill all the royal children of Judah to take the throne, it seemed like God’s promise to David might be lost. But one brave woman made a huge difference. Jehosheba, the sister of King Ahaziah, quietly rescued baby Joash and hid him in the temple for six years.
She wasn’t famous. She didn’t have power or a throne. But she had courage, faith, and love for God’s promises. Because of her, the line of David was saved—and Joash would later become king and help lead the people back to God.
Jehosheba didn’t need to be in the spotlight to be important. Her quiet faithfulness helped protect God’s plan for His people. And from David’s family line came Jesus—the true King who brings salvation to the world.
Reflections:
- Jehosheba served quietly but bravely. God sees and values what others may overlook.
- One faithful act can protect God’s plan. You never know how your actions today can make a difference tomorrow.
- Jesus is the King Jehosheba helped protect. Her bravery helped keep God’s promise alive until Christ came.
Application:
You don’t need to be in a big role to serve God. Be faithful where you are—at home, work, or church. Protect what matters to God: truth, life, and love. Let your quiet service be a light in dark places.
Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Jehosheba’s courage and quiet faithfulness. Help me to serve You, even when no one sees. Teach me to protect what is good and trust that You are using my small acts for a greater purpose. Thank You for Jesus, the true King, whom You sent to save us all. In His name I pray, Amen.
