“GOD KNOWS YOU!”
(Jeremiah 1:1 – 2:37; 2 Kings 23:21-30; 2 Chronicles 35:1-27)
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart…” – Jeremiah 1:5
He was just the son of a priest, coming from the town of Anathoth, a Levitical city found about three miles northeast of Jerusalem. He wasn’t anyone prominent at the time, and didn’t think too highly of himself. In fact, he thought he was too young to be used by God.
But, God told Jeremiah that He knew him even before he was formed in his mother’s womb! And that before he was born, God had already set him apart to be His spokesman to the world!
As you read through today’s assignment, you easily see the sinful condition of God’s people. And, it was to these people God chose Jeremiah to speak.
Simple Truth: Regardless of your background, your age, training, or your life’s circumstances, God knows you and has a plan for your life!
Reflections and Application:
- Don’t say that! (Jeremiah 1:7) – If God has called you, don’t say that you aren’t able to do what He calls you to do!
- Don’t be afraid! (:8) – You need not fear doing what God calls you to do, because He will be with you and take care of you!
- What do you see? (:11 & :13) – When God calls you, He will give you vision regarding what He wants you to do!
- Get up and get dressed! (:17) – Too many of God’s people never accomplish what God wants them to do simply because they never begin! It’s time to get started! It’s time to “just do it!”
Some may try to discourage you or stand against you. But, they will fail! “For I am with you, and I will take care of you!” (Jeremiah 1:19)
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, for far too long, I’ve made excuses and put off doing what You have called me to do. Today, I have determined that I will begin to follow the direction You have given me, and do what Your perfect will is. I know you will never leave nor forsake me! I will move forward, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
