“GOD IS JUST”
(Ezekiel 17:1 – 19:14)
“When righteous people turn from being good and start doing sinful things, they will die for it. Yes, they will die because of their sinful deeds. And if wicked people turn away from their wickedness, obey the law, and do what is just and right, they will save their lives.” – Ezekiel 18:26-27
In Ezekiel’s prophecy that we read in the three chapters of today’s assignment, we are informed of the same truth, prophetically spoken in both illustrative fashion as well as through lifestyle application. Perhaps some people thought that simply identifying as “God’s people” would allow them to get to heaven. Others thought that the sinful actions of parents would keep their offspring from eternal life. And even others were convinced that “wicked people” could never go to heaven. Ezekiel’s prophecy discounts all of those thoughts.
The truth is found in Ezekiel 18:26-27. Whether your “label” is righteous or wicked, the only way your life will be saved is to turn away from wicked ways, obey God’s law, and do what is just and right.
My friend, the ONLY way to accomplish this is through a right relationship with God, which can only be found in trusting Christ as your Savior! For “all have sinned” and “there is none righteous.” We are all “wicked,” and it is only because Christ paid the price for our sin through His atoning death and resurrection that our life will be saved!
Simple Truth:
No matter what your background is, no matter your personal life position, no matter what deeds you have done, the only way your life can be saved is through accepting Christ as your personal savior.
Reflections & Application:
- Have you done things in your life that are wrong, wicked, or even evil? The good news is that if you will turn from those wicked ways, and received Christ, you will be forgiven!
- Those who think that because of their ancestry or position in life that they will be saved are quite mistaken. You cannon inherit or earn salvation. It is only through the gift of God in Christ Jesus.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I know all too well that I have “missed the mark” so many times and in so many ways. I repent of those actions, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I thank You for Your love and salvation through Jesus Christ my Lord. I ask this in His precious name, Amen.
