“THE EYE OF GOD”
(Ezra 5:3 – 6:15)

“But the eye of their God was watching over the elders of the Jews, and they were not stopped until a report could go to Darius and his written reply be received.” – Ezra 5:5

Although you have committed your life to Christ, there may be times when it seems like you are experiencing trouble on every side. Whatever you are trying to do, folks around you simply are not supporting you, and even standing opposed to your endeavors. It can be a very frustrating situation!

But, don’t quit! Don’t give up! Don’t listen to the detractors! Because, God is with you, and His eye is upon you!

In our text today, Ezra notes that the Jews were rebuilding the temple of God, and the prophets were with them and helping them. But, certain people wrote letters to the government opposing this work, including naming the people who were doing the work!

However, the eye of God was watching over them, and the work was able to continue!

I don’t know what your plans are for today, but I do know that the eye of God is on you, and He will be watching over you throughout your day’s activities. Move forward! Don’t quit!

Simple Truth:
Though there may be some folks who oppose you, know that God is with you and watching over you!

Reflections & Application:

  • Has God called you to do a task, become involved in a ministry, or serve in some way? Don’t ignore His calling! Today is the day to begin!

  • When things aren’t going as you would desire, it’s all too easy to get discouraged. Know that God is with you, watching you, and leading you by His Spirit! Don’t become weary in doing what is good! (Galatians 6:9)

  • There will often be situations that can distract or discourage you along life’s way. Know that God will never leave you or forsake you. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother, and will supply all that you need! (Hebrews 13:5; Proverbs 18:24; Philippians 4:19)

Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, today I am determined to not become discouraged or dissuaded. Rather than looking down at my situation and circumstances, I will look up to You, knowing that you are with me and watching over me. I thank You for Your blessings on my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
