“ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH”
(Luke 8:1-3; Matthew 12:22-50; 9:27-34; Mark 3:20-35; Luke 8:19-21)
“When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ They said to him, ‘Yes, Lord.’ Then he touched their eyes, saying, ‘According to your faith be it done to you.’” – Matthew 9:28-29
Even though we are Christ-followers, we still will face many trials and tribulations as we live our lives. We are not guaranteed a “smooth journey.” In fact, quite the opposite, the Bible tells us that in this world we will have troubles (John 16:33). A key ingredient for success in life is to not lose heart – don’t quit, don’t stop believing, don’t stop trusting the Lord (Hebrews 12:3).
Jesus asks each of us, each and every day, “Do you believe I am able to do this?” No matter what we see or feel, our prayerful reply needs to be “Yes, Lord!” And, then we can be confident that “according to your faith be it done to you!”
And, it will be! But, it may not be in your timing! It will be according to His time! I learned this phrase a long time ago – “He may not come when you want Him, but He’s always right on time!”
Simple Truth:
Faith in God is the essential ingredient to success as a Christian! “Let him ask in faith, with no doubting!” (James 1:6)
Reflections & Application:
- We humans are so influenced by our senses – see, hear, touch. We need to discipline ourselves to be more influenced by our faith in Jesus than what our physical senses convey.
- The Bible tells us that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17) A key to increasing our faith is to prioritize spending time in God’s Word – reading the Bible.
- Remember that God has promised to supply ALL your need by His riches in glory! (Philippians 4:19) No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly! (Psalm 84:11)
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, this is the day that You have made, so I will rejoice and be glad in it! No matter what I see or hear, I will trust You and believe You that You will work all things together for good for those who are called according to Your purpose! (Romans 8:28) I ask this and believe this in Jesus’ name, Amen!
