“BORN TO LEAD”
(Exodus 1:1 – 4:31)

Moses’ story begins in a time of great oppression for the Israelites. Pharaoh, fearing the growing number of Hebrews, orders all male babies to be killed. Yet, even in the midst of this cruelty, God’s plan for Moses cannot be stopped. Exodus 2:2 tells us that Moses’ mother saw “that he was a fine child” and hid him for three months. When she could hide him no longer, God orchestrated a miraculous rescue through Pharaoh’s own daughter (Exodus 2:5-6). Years later, God called Moses from the burning bush, saying, “I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt” (Exodus 3:10).

Moses’ life reminds us that God creates each of us with a purpose. From the moment of his birth, Moses was set apart to lead God’s people. Even when Moses doubted his ability, God reassured him, saying, “I will be with you” (Exodus 3:12). Just as God had a plan for Moses, He has a plan for you. No matter your past or present doubts, He can use you to fulfill His purposes.

Reflection:

Moses’ journey from birth to calling teaches us key truths about God’s plans for our lives:

1. God’s Purpose is Greater Than Our Circumstances: Moses was born during a time of danger, yet God protected him. Trust that God’s plans for your life cannot be thwarted by circumstances.

    

2. God Uses the Ordinary for Extraordinary Things: Moses was just a baby in a basket and later a shepherd in the wilderness, yet God called him to lead a nation. Your ordinary life can be a platform for God’s extraordinary work.

    

3. God’s Presence Makes All the Difference: When Moses doubted his ability to lead, God didn’t focus on Moses’ weaknesses but promised His presence. Whatever God calls you to do, His presence will empower and sustain you.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for creating me with a purpose. Just as You had a plan for Moses, I know You have a plan for my life. Help me to trust in Your calling, even when I feel inadequate. Remind me that Your presence goes with me and that Your power is greater than my weaknesses. Use me for Your glory, Lord. Amen.

Challenge:

Reflect on the unique ways God has prepared and called you. Write down one area where you feel God leading you to serve or lead. Take one small step of faith toward that calling, trusting that God is with you every step of the way.
