“GOD FIGHTS FOR HIS PEOPLE”
(Exodus 5:1 – 8:32)

In Exodus 5-8, the Israelites groan under the weight of Pharaoh’s oppression. When Moses and Aaron obey God’s command to demand Israel’s freedom, Pharaoh refuses and makes the Israelites’ labor even harsher (Exodus 5:6-9). It seems like things are getting worse, not better. Yet, God reassures Moses, saying, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go” (Exodus 6:1).

Through a series of miraculous signs and plagues—turning water into blood, sending frogs, gnats, and flies—God shows His power and His commitment to fight for His people. Pharaoh’s stubbornness cannot stand against God’s might, and every act of judgment is a step closer to Israel’s deliverance. This story reminds us that God fights for His people and will always fulfill His promises, no matter how impossible the situation seems.

Reflection:

The story of God delivering Israel from Egypt teaches us important truths about how God fights for His children:

1. God Hears Our Cries: Just as He heard the groaning of the Israelites (Exodus 6:5), God hears your prayers and is moved to act on your behalf. Trust that He is always attentive to your needs.

    

2. God’s Power is Greater Than Any Opponent: Pharaoh was the most powerful ruler of his time, yet he could not withstand God’s hand. Whatever challenges you face, remember that God’s power is unmatched.

    

3. God’s Timing is Perfect: Even when deliverance doesn’t happen immediately, God’s plan is unfolding. Just as He brought Israel through a process of plagues, He may be working behind the scenes in your situation.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for fighting for me. When I feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, remind me of Your power and Your faithfulness. Help me to trust in Your timing, even when deliverance doesn’t come immediately. Strengthen my faith as I wait for Your victory, and help me to remember that You are always at work on my behalf. Amen.

Challenge:

Identify a challenge or “Pharaoh” in your life where you need God’s intervention. Commit that situation to prayer daily, trusting in God’s timing and power. Reflect on past victories He has won for you and give thanks for His faithfulness.
