NOVEMBER 19 – Reading 323

“THE THREE WORDS THAT CHANGE EVERYTHING”
(Matthew 27:57-28:8; Mark 15:42-16:8; Luke 23-50-24:12; John 19:31-20:18)

“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where the Lord lay.” – Matthew 28:6

Think about the three most important words ever said. For the friends of Jesus, those words came from an angel near an empty grave: “He has risen.”

Before this happened, all the great things Jesus did, His healings, His teachings, His love, and even His death were like a story without an ending. If Jesus had stayed in the grave, then:

  • His teachings would have just been nice words.
  • His wonders would have been just tricks.
  • His death would have been a sad failure.

But when the angel said, “He has risen,” everything Jesus did was instantly shown to be true. The Empty Tomb proved that:

  1. He is God: Only God can defeat death.
  2. His payment worked: The cost for our sins was fully paid.
  3. His promises are real: Everything Jesus talked about from heaven, forever life, and coming back is completely true.

The empty tomb means Jesus’s life, death, and teachings are not just old history, they are forever truth.

Our New Life

Because Jesus rose from the dead, we get to share in His win! Jesus gives us the chance to also be raised up from the death caused by our sins. Our sin keeps us away from God. It’s a spiritual and physical death. But when we trust Jesus, we become alive in Him.

The Bible says we are “raised with Christ” (Colossians 3:1). This means the same power that brought Jesus out of the grave now lifts us out of the grave of our old, sinful life. We don’t have to live stuck in the guilty past. We can now walk in a new, strong life (Romans 6:4).

The words “He has risen” are not just a fact from long ago. They are an open door for us every day to leave our sin and shame behind and to live with Jesus’s life and power.

Simple Truth:
Jesus rising from the dead proves everything He said is true and gives us the power to be raised out of our sins in Him.

Reflections:

  • If Jesus rising from the dead makes all His promises real, which one promise do you need to believe more strongly today?

  • How does knowing you are “raised with Christ” help you when you face temptation or remember past mistakes?

Application:

  • Remember that your old, sinful way of life died with Christ. Choose to live like the new person you now are in Him.

  • Thank Jesus for those three powerful words, “He has risen,” and for the new life He gives you.

Closing Prayer:
Almighty God, thank You for the empty tomb and the powerful words, “He has risen.” Thank You that this fact makes everything about Jesus certain. Forgive me for holding onto the past death of my sins. By Your power, help me to live my life today as a new person in Christ. May my actions show that I believe in Your great win over death. Amen.
