MARCH 24 – Reading 83

“GOD USES IMPERFECT PEOPLE”
(Judges 6:1 – 8:35)

“When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’” – Judges 6:12

Reflection:
When we first meet Gideon, he is hiding in fear from the Midianites, yet God calls him a “mighty warrior.” Gideon does not see himself as strong or capable, but God sees what he can become through faith. Despite his doubts and fears, Gideon obeys God, and with only 300 men, he defeats a vast Midianite army.

Gideon’s story reminds us that God does not call the qualified—He qualifies the called. He is not looking for perfect people but for those willing to trust Him. Even when Gideon struggled with doubt and needed multiple signs from God, the Lord remained patient and faithful.

This points us to Jesus, our perfect Savior. Where Gideon was fearful, Jesus was fearless. Where Gideon needed signs, Jesus fully trusted the Father. Gideon led Israel to temporary victory, but Jesus gives us eternal victory over sin and death. Like Gideon, we may feel unworthy, but through Christ, we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37).

Simple Truth:
God sees beyond our weaknesses and uses us for His glory when we trust Him.

Applications:

1. Trust God’s View of You: You may see your flaws, but God sees your potential in Him.

2. Step Forward in Faith: Like Gideon, take small steps of obedience, even when you feel afraid.

3. Look to Jesus for Strength: Our confidence should not be in ourselves but in Christ, who leads us to victory.

Reflection Questions:

1. What insecurities or fears are holding you back from following God’s call?

2. How can Gideon’s story encourage you to trust God in the midst of your weaknesses?

3. Where is God calling you to step out in faith, even if you feel unqualified?

Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for using flawed and imperfect people to accomplish Your purposes. Help me to trust Your calling, even when I feel weak. Strengthen my faith and remind me that my victory comes through You. Just as You used Gideon, use me for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
