FEBRUARY 8 – Reading 39

“MORE THAN ENOUGH”
(Exodus 33:1 – 36:38)

And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the LORD’s contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and armlets, all sorts of gold objects, every man dedicating an offering of gold to the LORD. – Exodus 35:21-22

Isn’t it amazing what proper priorities will do in your life?! Just three chapters earlier, the people of God brought gold to be melted into an idol, bringing devastating consequences. Now, in obedience to God, the people bring all manner of goods, including gold, for it to be fashioned into the place where they would meet with God.

And, did they ever give! They gave and gave to the point that they were outgiving the need, and were instructed to stop giving. They had given more than enough (Exodus 36:5)! And, in fact, the people had to be “restrained from giving more!”

There are times when we may think that we don’t have enough to give to the Lord. We have utility bills, payments due, expenses to make, and on and on. And, thoughts go to forsaking honoring the Lord with our finances. But, the Biblical truth is that you cannot outgive God! When we prioritize giving to Him, then He multiplies what we have!

How do you view your finances? If you see your money as what you have earned, and that it belongs to you, then you will always be lacking. But, if you see everything as belonging to the Lord, and that you are a steward – a caretaker – of what is His, then your priorities will be completely different!

When we put this principle into operation in our lives, we will discover that God’s house will have “more than enough!” And, that He will supply ALL your need (Philippians 4:19), pressed down, shaken together, and running over (Luke 6:38)!

Let’s pray…

Lord, I recognize that all that I have belongs to You, and that You have entrusted me to be the caretaker. Give me wisdom to use all You have provided for Your glory, and to trust You in everything! I acknowledge that You supply all my needs, and that lack nothing as I follow Your Spirit’s leading.
