SEPTEMBER 4 – Reading 247

“NEW EVERY MORNING”
(Lamentations 1:-5:22)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23

These words were written by Jeremiah during a time when everything he knew was falling apart. Jerusalem was destroyed, people were in exile, and sorrow filled the air. It would have been easy to believe that God had turned away and that all hope was gone for good. But somehow, in the middle of all that devastation, Jeremiah lifted his eyes and remembered a powerful truth. God’s love never ends, and His mercy shows up new every morning. Even in his darkest moments, Jeremiah understood, God was still there.

Today, you and I can hold fast to that same truth. Maybe you’re in a season where life feels heavy. Maybe regret, disappointment, or fear is clouding your view. I’ve been there too, wondering if things will ever get better or if I’ve just messed up too much. But here’s the good news, God doesn’t change with our circumstances. His mercy doesn’t run out. Each morning, no matter how we feel or what we’ve faced, He offers us grace, strength, and the chance to start again.

So if you’re carrying something today, whether it be guilt, shame, or fear of the unknown, lay it down. Let God meet you with His mercy. You don’t have to have it all together to receive His love. His faithfulness is bigger than your failures and His grace is deeper than your regrets. Today is a new day filled with endless love, new mercies and unchanging faithfulness.  Will you embrace it?

Simple Truth:
God’s mercy never runs out. Every morning, He offers us fresh grace and steadfast love to face the day ahead. His faithfulness is great and never fails, no matter our past or present struggles.

Reflection:

• How would your attitude toward today change if you fully trusted that God’s mercy is brand new every morning?

   

• When have you experienced God’s faithfulness in a difficult time, and how did that experience affect your hope?

   

Application:

• Each morning, pause to thank God for His fresh mercy and ask Him to help you rely on it throughout the day.

   

• When feelings of guilt or fear creep in, remind yourself of this promise and let God’s mercy refresh your spirit.

   

• Share this hope with someone who may be discouraged, encouraging them with the truth that God’s mercies are always new and available.

   

Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You that Your mercies are new every morning and Your love never fails. Help me to live each day in the freedom of Your grace, trusting Your faithfulness no matter what comes my way. Teach me to extend this hope to others who need to hear it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
