“FREELY GIVEN, FREELY LIVED”
(Matthew 10:1 – 11:1; Mark 6:7-13; Luke 9:1-6; Matthew 14:1-12; Mark 6:14-30; Luke 9:7-9)
“And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.” – Matthew 10:7–8 (ESV)
The Kingdom of God isn’t some far-off dream it’s here now, touching our daily lives with power, grace, and healing. Jesus didn’t send His disciples out with timid hearts. He sent them with fire, with authority and with a message that could shake the earth, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand”! This isn’t just a call to preach, it’s a call to act, to heal, to restore, to give and to live as men and women carrying the authority of heaven.
Not so long ago I had “one of those days” where everything just felt heavy. My heart was worn, my spirit was tired, and I remember wondering if my efforts were good enough. That night, just as I was about to go to bed, I received a text from the most unexpected person. Their words were simple but they pierced through the weight I had been carrying. It felt like God Himself had reached through that message to say, “I see you. You are not forgotten.” Friends, that’s the Kingdom! That’s what it looks like when heaven touches earth through ordinary people who walk boldly in the authority of Christ.
Jesus gave His disciples a mission and He gave them power to fulfill it. Not because they were strong but because He is! He reminded them, you didn’t earn this, you received it freely. Now go and give it away.
That same power is ours! We may not feel mighty but we carry the Spirit of the living God!. When we speak life, when we pray boldly, when we serve, we proclaim the Kingdom. Even the smallest act, a kind word, a quiet prayer, a gentle gift can carry the full weight of heaven when done in His name.
That text I received that night reminded me that the kingdom of heaven is near and we are its messengers!
Simple Truth:
You’ve been entrusted with heaven’s power. What you’ve received freely, you are called to give freely.
Reflections:
- What grace has God poured into your life that someone else might need today?
- Where is He nudging you to give, even if it feels small?
Application:
- Send a message of encouragement to someone who might be struggling
- Pray with boldness, knowing Jesus has given you spiritual authority
- Look for ways to share God’s love without expecting anything in return
Closing Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for the grace and power You’ve given me. Help me to proclaim Your Kingdom, not just with words, but with love, healing, and generosity. Show me who needs Your touch today, and give me the courage to speak, serve, and give in Your name. Amen.
