“WISDOM FOR A GREATER WORK”
(1 Kings 4:1 – 5:18; 2 Chronicles 2:1-18)

“The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods.” — 2 Chronicles 2:5

Simple Truth:
God gives us wisdom and everything we need—not to make ourselves look good, but to honor Him and do His important work.

Reflection:
Growing up, church has always been very special to me. I’ve always seen it as a big part of my life, and I make it a priority. Being in God’s house just feels different—it’s peaceful and powerful. That’s why I do my best to never miss a service.

Some people say, “going to church doesn’t save you,” and I agree. But not going to church regularly might lead us to drift away. I’d rather stay close to God and keep showing up. Like Jesus said, “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”

In 1 Kings 4–5 and 2 Chronicles 2, we read how Solomon got ready to build God’s temple—a special place for God’s presence. God gave Solomon wisdom and peace, and Solomon used those blessings to honor God, not himself. He made sure the temple was built with care, using the best materials and workers.

Solomon understood something important: the temple had to show how great God is. It wasn’t just a building—it was where heaven and earth would meet.

This all points to Jesus. He didn’t build a temple—He became the true temple (John 2:19–21). He is now the place where we meet God. And because of Him, we are now being built into a spiritual temple (1 Peter 2:5), where God lives through His Spirit.

Reflection Questions:

  • Am I using what God gave me to honor Him?

  • Do I understand that I’m part of something bigger—God’s spiritual temple in Christ?

  • How can I do my daily work with excellence for God’s glory?

Application:

  1. Ask God for Wisdom – Like Solomon, ask God to give you wisdom so you can do His will, not just your own.

  2. Use Your Gifts for God – Whether it’s your time, skills, or money, use them to help build God’s Kingdom.

  3. Live with Purpose – Everything you do—at home, at work, or at church—can show people how great God is.

  4. Stay Close to Jesus – He is the true temple. Spend time with Him and let your life reflect His love and holiness.

Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me wisdom and gifts. Help me to use them for Your glory, not for myself. Like Solomon, let me treat every task with care and respect, knowing I’m part of something bigger. Thank You for Jesus, the true temple, who brings me into Your presence. Help my life to show Your greatness and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
