“ON THAT DAY”
(Zechariah 12:1 – 14:21)
“The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name.” – Zechariah 14:9
Without question, we are living in the end times. The fact is, ever since the day of Pentecost, this world has been in the end times! Since the early church expected and anticipated Christ’s return at any moment, how much closer to His return are we now?!
Through the wonders of the internet, we are able to learn nearly instantly of events taking place around the world. As you consider reports of conflicts of war, political upheaval, cataclysmic weather changes, geological catastrophes, and compare these things to myriad Biblical verses, we surely understand that Christ’s return is imminent.
Much of what we read in Zechariah mirrors what is also prophetically seen in the book of Revelation. In this devotional, we are not looking to share an eschatology lesson, but rather to make clear that the end of it all will be that Jesus will rule and reign forever! “The Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and His name the only name!”
Maranatha! Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
Simple Truth:
This world is not our home – we are just passing through! Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is coming soon!
Reflections & Application:
- It is so very easy to become upset regarding the events taking place around the world. But, we must discipline ourselves to live with eternity in light, rather than this world’s current events.
- How does the reality of Christ’s return affect the decisions you make today?
- If you saw your neighbor’s home on fire, you would surely warn them, and do all you could to rescue them from the fire. Reality check – your neighbor’s home IS on fire!
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I recognize that the days in which we live are drawing closer and closer to Jesus’ return. Help me to live today and every day in light of eternity. Help me to be led by Your Spirit to share the truth of salvation through Christ. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
